Investment team Intern
Accounting & Finance · Intern
Madrid, Spain
Who we are
TheVentureCity is a global early-stage venture fund with more than $155M under management and a portfolio of over 120 companies. We back founders in Europe, the US and Latin America, mostly at Series A, and we believe talent has no zip code.
We invest in B2B companies where data and AI are at the core of the product. We are generalists, with a strong focus on deeptech, fintech, healthtech, logistics and cyber.
Our team is made of entrepreneurs, operators and former leaders of hyper-growth companies. We don't write a check and disappear. We work side by side with founders on data, product, operations and people, and we want them to tell us early when something goes wrong, so we can help.
We are headquartered in Miami and Madrid, with people also in San Francisco and São Paulo. This internship is based in our Madrid office.
What you will do
You will join the Investment team and learn how early-stage venture capital works from the inside. You will take part in the whole process, from the first look at a company to supporting it once we have invested.
-
Source and screen new opportunities: find promising founders, markets and products, and join first calls with prospects.
-
Do market research and competitive analysis to support investment decisions, plus financial modelling and product assessment when a deal moves forward.
-
Help with due diligence and prepare investment memos, portfolio reports and presentations.
-
Keep our pipeline and CRM up to date, with clear notes from every call.
-
Help prepare and update LP materials for our fundraising and investor relations.
-
Follow the performance of our portfolio companies and support founders when they need us.
-
Work with AI tools every day: use them to speed up research, summarize calls and draft first versions, and help us improve how the team uses them.
You will also join internal meetings and pipeline discussions, and work with our Data, Product and Operations teams on cross-functional projects.
Who we are looking for
Someone curious and hands-on, with an international profile, who wants to learn how early-stage investing really works and is already comfortable working with AI.
-
Curiosity for startups, technology and how products grow, and a real interest in venture capital. You follow the ecosystem and have opinions about it.
-
Strong analytical thinking. You are comfortable with quantitative and qualitative data, Excel included, and you explain your conclusions clearly, in writing and out loud.
-
Hands-on experience with AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or similar). You know how to write a good prompt, check the output and decide what to trust. If you have built a workflow or an automation, we want to hear about it.
-
An international profile: you have studied, worked or lived in more than one country.
-
Proactive and resourceful. You ask questions, suggest ideas and dive into new things without waiting to be told.
-
Well organized, and able to handle several tasks at once.
-
Fluent English is required. Spanish is a plus.
-
Previous experience at a startup, in consulting, banking or VC/PE is a plus, but not a requirement.
What we offer
This is a full-time, on-site internship in Madrid, Monday to Friday. Being in the Madrid office throughout the internship is essential, because the role is fully integrated into the day to day of the team.
-
Duration: 6 months, provided expectations are met on both sides. Starting date: January 11, 2027.
-
A paid internship. It can also count for academic credit if your university allows it, and we sign the internship agreement (convenio) with your university.
-
Close work with the Investment team and with founders, plus projects with our Data, Product and Operations teams.
-
A practical view of how an early-stage fund sources, evaluates and supports companies, and of how a team uses AI to do that work.
Details will be discussed during the interview process.
