We are seeking a Head of UK Compliance to mature and manage a comprehensive Regulatory Compliance Programme in the UK. This role will be responsible for managing all aspects of regulatory compliance for Affirm’s UK operations and reporting to UK leadership and headquarter management on the state of the UK Regulatory Compliance Programme. In addition, the individual will be appointed, subject to FCA approval, as the firm's Senior Management Function 16 (Head of Compliance).
The Head of UK Compliance is ultimately responsible for ensuring that the business has in place appropriate risk assessments, policies, procedures, controls, monitoring and training commensurate with the scale of Affirm’s business activities in the UK, and for reassessing the adequacy of these programmatic elements over time. In addition, the Head of UK Compliance will be responsible for ensuring that all employees of Affirm UK, and those outside the UK that support the UK, understand and adhere to the applicable requirements and standards which apply to them and the Affirm UK.
Whilst their focus will be on Affirm UK, the Head of UK Compliance will be part of Affirm’s global compliance organisation and will report to, and provide reporting and updates to Affirm US, as well as incorporating global controls and requirements, where feasible.

What you’ll do:
Maturing and maintaining an effective compliance culture across Affirm UK to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory rules.
Provide regulatory advice to help the business understand the risks and possible mitigation solutions.
Track regulatory proposals and final rules to understand new risks, and communicate them to appropriate parties through the company.
Develop, maintain and periodically update compliance risk assessments as a foundation of the UK Regulatory Compliance Programme.
Maintain a monitoring programme to determine whether risk is sufficiently managed.
Coordinate responses to regulatory supervision, audits, and actions taken to ensure deficiencies are corrected in a timely fashion.
Communicate the results of monitoring and reporting activities completed to internal partners and/or executives in both Affirm UK and Affirm US.
Ensure that compliance and the business have in place, and maintain, up-to-date policies and procedures.
Track compliance issues through completion of corrective action, including validation testing.
Develop and implement a framework for regulatory compliance training and ensure that all staff receive appropriate training.
Co-Chair the UK Risk Management Committee and report to the cross functional management structure of the UK business on a regular basis on the UK business’ compliance with the applicable rules and regulations that apply to the business as set out in the FCA Handbook and applicable legislation.
Prepare and submit reports to the FCA under the regulatory reporting regime.
Advise the business on appropriate response to consumer complaints, and analyze trends and root causes of such complaints.
Ensure the oversight of third-party service providers identifies and addresses potential compliance risks.
Develop and maintain the merchant marketing review process.
Ensure compliance with the applicable record-keeping requirements.
Maintain sufficient authority and independence within Affirm UK to carry out the Head of Compliance responsibility appropriately.
Comply at all times with the FCA's senior management and certification regime rules and requirements as an SMF of the UK business.
What we look for:
At least 10+ years of compliance risk management experience in the UK, preferably in the consumer credit sector including experience building and executing a programme as part of a nascent or growing regulatory compliance organisation.
A proven understanding of current applicable regulatory requirements and environment in the UK, including UK Consumer Duty legislation.
Staying up to date on the evolution of the UK’s regulatory environment
The ability to independently analyse complex issues and identify suitable solutions.
Experience collaborating and building positive relationships across a multinational organisation [headquartered in the US], thoughtfully enforcing policies and Compliance Programme, and raising issues to executive management.
The ability to balance multiple priorities, adapt to a constantly evolving business environment, work independently, put pen to paper to drive project completion, and be flexible to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.
People management experience, including management of third party resources.
Ability to influence, engage, and delegate across a matrixed organization.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
The ability to easily interact with all levels of the organisation.
A real passion for improving the lives of consumers through Affirm’s products.
Advanced degree preferred but not required.
Industry / professional certifications preferred but not required
