Devengo is a startup focused on a simple but ambitious mission: to make finance a fairer place. Founded by well-known fintech players Fernando Cabello-Astolfi and Alberto Molpeceres. Their first product is a scalable and simple API that allows any company, big or small, to send and receive instant payments. A business bank account you can programmatically use in real-time. They have invested the last three years in discovering a thousand ways of making Salary Advance that don't work and decided to pivot Devengo to laser-focus on instant payments. They have processed hundreds of thousands of operations and millions of euros, experiencing how vital and transformative instant payment technology can be for digital experiences. Early adopters are rapidly mapping opportunities across Europe, with transfers migrating to instant processing doubling each year and a billion euros transferred daily across Europe via instant networks. They will soon launch in non-EU areas. We're looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join their team, embrace their vision, create life-improving services for companies, and help build out their instant payments platform and APIs. Schedule and location:- Flexible schedule to reconcile commitments; daily sync time after lunch with availability requested between 12:00–16:00 CEST; typical availability window 06:00–21:00.- 100% remote; candidates should be within UTC ±2 timezones; quarterly offsites for in-person meetups. Requirements:- Strong senior perspective on software development; experience designing/developing APIs; pragmatic tradeoffs; maintainability mindset; team player.- English communication (written and spoken); many tech meetings in Spanish; documentation and peer review in English.- Good understanding of software principles (you’ll work with Ruby, but other languages welcome).- TDD/best practices (SOLID, design patterns, testing), production deployments, CI/CD pipelines, solid test suites, clear communication and listening, self-motivation and organization.
